エセックス大学 Launches Full-Time MBA Program

The Essex Business School at the University of Essex’ New, one-year program will focus on sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It will feature two core modules - Sustainable Business Strategies and Innovation and Entrepreneurship - along with other compulsory and elective modules.

This is the first MBA program offered by Essex Business School, which also offers MSc and PhD programs in accounting, finance, and other management-related subjects.

Sunil Kumar New Dean at シカゴ大学ブースビジネススクール

Sunil Kumar, Fred H. Merrill Professor of Operations, Information and Technology and an expert in operations research at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, will be Booth’s new dean. Kumar will take the place of Edward A. Snyder. Snyder stepped down from his post on June 30, 2010 after 9 nears.

India-born Kumar, received his  PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996. Kumar will focus on improving Booth’s research. He’s seen as an outsider and will bring a fresh perspective.

Wharton Diversity Weekend

Registration for Explore Wharton: Diversity in Action, a two-day event for prospective applicants from under represented backgrounds to visit campus and learn more about the admissions process is open.

Held over September 16th and 17th, Explore Wharton is hosted by the African American MBA Association (AAMBAA), the Wharton Hispanic American MBA Association (WHAMBAA), Wharton’s Out for Business (Out4Biz) and the MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office.

Visitors can tour the Wharton campus, attend classes, ask questions about the admissions process and learn more about specific opportunities for LGBT and under-represented people of color within the Wharton MBA community.

The essays are nearly the same as last year:

Essay 1: Professional Aspirations
(750 word maximum, double-spaced, 12-point font)
Think about the decisions you have made in your life. Answer the following:

(a) What choices have you made that led you to your current position?
(b) Why pursue an MBA at this point in your life?
(c) What is your career goal upon graduation from NYU Stern? What is your long-term career goal?

Essay 2: Your Stern Experience
(500 word maximum, double-spaced, 12-point font)

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has updated its deadlines  and essay topics for this fall’s admissions season.

International Applicants

International applicants are admitted based on a rolling deadline. The application is open from May 18, 2010 until January 15, 2011. The applicant, if chosen for an interview, will be notified within one month under normal circumstances. Within three weeks of the interview date, the applicant will be notified of his or her status. The essay topics, as listed in the online application, are as follows:

Essay 1
If we were to admit one more student to the class of 2012, make a compelling argument as to why that student should be you? (300 words maximum)

Essay 2
What are your short term and long term goals? How will the ISB help you achieve the same? (300 words maximum)

Essay 3
Please provide additional information, that will significantly affect the consideration of your application to the ISB. (300 words maximum)

香港科技大学, CEIBS, ISB Uniting in MBA Push

Asia’s top-ranked graduate school of business, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology,  together with China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and the Indian School of Business (ISB) are uniting to raise their  visibility in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
The Hong Kong university will recruit jointly with the China Europe International Business School, the Indian School of Business and Nanyang Technological University in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, London, Paris and Madrid and give presentations together and maintain a website: www.topasiabschools.com.

 

The schools are touting several advantages over elite programs in the U.S. for example. Asian MBAs are usually one year,and priced at around $50,000.

 

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was ranked 9th with theUniversity of Chicago Booth School of Business, in the 2010 Financial Times  MBA ranking. The Hong Kong school opened in October 1991 on a 150- acre campus in East Kowloon Hong Kong. The school has 9,515 students, including 1,189 graduate students in business.

The Indian School of Business, founded in 2001 in Hyderabad, has 577 students and is 12th in the Financial Times ranking. CEIBS, based in Shanghai, was  founded in 1994 and is 22nd in the FT rankings. It has 201 fulltime MBA students and 742 executive MBA students, Nanyang has an enrollment of 589, including 177 fulltime students seeking MBA degrees. Nanyang was No. 27 on the list of 100 schools. London Business School was No. 1 on the list, just ahead of Wharton and Harvard. At CEIBS, about 22 percent of the MBA class comes from Europe and America.

In anticipation of the official release of its online application, Berkeley/Haas has released its updated essay topics. The written portion of the Haas application includes four short answer questions and two long essays.

Short Answer Questions
1. What are you most passionate about?  Why?  (250-word maximum)
2. Tell us about your most significant accomplishment. (250-word maximum)
3. At Haas, our distinctive culture is defined by four key principles:
question the status quo; confidence without attitude; students always; and beyond yourself. Give an example of when you have demonstrated one of these principles. (250 words maximum, Review Berkeley-Haas’ Defining Principles)
4. There are many ways to learn about our program, what steps have you taken to learn about the Berkeley MBA? (250-word maximum)

Essays
1. Give us an example of a situation in which you displayed leadership. (500 word maximum)
2. What are your post-MBA short-term and long-term career goals? How do your professional experiences relate to these goals? How will an MBA from Berkeley help you achieve these specific career goals? (1000 word maximum)
